CARE BEYOND THE SURFACE

At Lau-vei Haus, your safety underpins every aspect of your care. Every clinical treatment carries potential risks and requires thoughtful consideration before, during and after treatment. The Care Standard is designed to help you understand what sits behind your treatment. From consultation and clinical assessment to treatment safety, potential risks, recovery and aftercare.

CLINICAL GOVERNANCE &
PATIENT AGREEMENT

INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT
We follow a medical model of care. Every treatment is preceded by an individual health assessment, and no treatment involving a prescription medicine is performed until suitability has been confirmed by an authorised prescriber.

CLINICAL AUTOMONY
Our Registered Practitioners hold a primary duty of care to every patient. We reserve the right to decline or defer treatment where it is not considered clinically appropriate or in your best interest.

INFORMED CONSENT
Formal informed consent is required before any clinical treatment proceeds, ensuring you understand the treatment, its risks, and the expected recovery.

INFORMED FINANCIAL CONSENT
Transparency matters to us. A clear, written quote will be provided prior to the commencement of any treatment, with no hidden fees.

INDIVIDUAL VARIABILITY
Results are not guaranteed. Outcomes depend on individual factors including age, skin health, genetics, and adherence to aftercare guidance.

SCRICTY 18+
Lau-vei Haus does not provide cosmetic medical treatments to individuals under the age of 18. Valid photo ID may be requested at your appointment.

WHILE RARE, RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH OUR TREATMENTS CAN INCLUDE:

  • Post-inflammatory pigment changes (skin darkening or lightening)

  • Infection or cold sore reactivation (if prone)

  • Allergic reaction to topical or injected products

A full, personalised risk disclosure relevant to your individual circumstances is provided prior to any treatment commencing.

Lau-vei Haus adheres to the infection control standards of HLTINF005

SWELLING AND BRUISING
Common following many treatments. Usually temporary and settling within a few days, though this can persist longer for some individuals.

REDNESS AND IRRITATION
Localised redness, tenderness or irritation at the treatment site is common and typically subsides within hours to a few days.

PAIN OR DISCOMFORT
Mild to moderate discomfort during or after treatment is common. Your practitioner will discuss appropriate comfort measures and aftercare.

INFECTION
There is a small risk of infection whenever the skin barrier is temporarily compromised. Strict hygiene protocols are followed to minimise this risk, and you’ll be provided with clear aftercare instructions to support your skin as it recovers. Please contact Lau-vei Haus promptly if you notice increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pain, discharge, or any other signs of infection.

ALLERGIC REACTIONS
Rare, but some individuals may experience an allergic or hypersensitivity reaction to products used. Please disclose any known allergies or relevant medical history before treatment.

ASYMMETRY OR IRREGULAR RESULTS
Results vary between individuals. Asymmetry, over-correction, under-correction or lumpiness are possible, particularly with treatments involving injections. Further treatment may sometimes be required to refine results.

VASCULAR COMPLICATIONS
In rare cases, treatments involving injections can lead to vascular occlusion - a blockage of a blood vessel. This is a serious complication requiring immediate attention. Symptoms may include severe pain, changes in skin colour, or skin breakdown. Seek immediate medical advice if you are concerned.

SKIN DAMAGE OR SCARRING
Rare, and often linked to post-treatment infection or not following aftercare guidance. Changes in skin texture or scarring are possible.

PIGMENT CHANGES
Particularly relevant for chemical peels. Changes in pigmentation, darkening or lightening can occur, particularly for darker skin tones. Usually temporary, though can be permanent in rare cases.

DELAYED ONSET NODULES
With certain injectable treatments, delayed inflammatory nodules may form weeks or months after treatment, and may require further management.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
It's important to hold realistic expectations of any treatment outcome. Cosmetic treatments are not a solution for low self-esteem or psychological conditions. Please raise any concerns with your practitioner.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

  • Individual results depend on your anatomy, treatment goals, and individual response.

  • Informed consent is essential. Your practitioner will explain the treatment, risks, potential complications and expected outcomes before proceeding.

  • Following aftercare guidance closely helps reduce the risk of complications and supports proper healing.

REPORTING ADVERSE REACTIONS & EVENTS
If you experience any unexpected reaction or complication, please contact the clinic immediately 0452 514 157. If urgent, seek medical attention.

RISKS & COMPLICATIONS OF NON-SURGICAL COSMETIC PROCEDURES

SKIN NEEDLING COLLECTION - SKINPEN®

WHAT TO EXPECT: Mild discomfort during treatment. Skin will appear red immediately after (similar to moderate sunburn) and may feel warm or tight.

RECOVERY: Redness typically settles within 24–48 hours. Some experience minor swelling, rough texture, breakouts, dry or flaking skin for 3–7 days. This will vary, depending on the intensity of treatment and targeted infusion.
Allow the skin to shed naturally and avoid picking, peeling or exfoliating, as this may increase the risk of irritation, infection or changes in pigmentation.

LIFESTYLE CONSIDERATIONS

ACTIVITY: Avoid sweating, strenuous exercise, swimming, saunas or hot showers for 24–48 hours.

SOLAR PROTECTION: Avoid direct sun exposure for a minimum of two weeks and wear solar protection daily.

SKINCARE: No makeup and strict hygiene for 24 hours. Avoid active ingredients (retinol, BHA/AHAs) for 7 days.

THE SKIN REFINEMENT COLLECTION

WHAT TO EXPECT: A mild-moderate slight tingling sensation during treatment. Your skin may feel warm, tight, dry or mildly sensitive following treatment, with some redness possible during the first few hours to days.

RECOVERY: Depending on the treatment, mild dryness, flaking or visible peeling may develop over the following days and can continue for approximately 3–7 days. Not every resurfacing treatment will cause visible peeling, and the amount of peeling is not an indication of how effective the treatment has been.

Allow the skin to shed naturally and avoid picking, peeling or exfoliating, as this may increase the risk of irritation, infection or changes in pigmentation

LIFESTYLE CONSIDERATIONS

ACTIVITY: Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, swimming, saunas, steam rooms and hot showers for approximately 24–48 hours.

SOLAR PROTECTION: Avoid direct sun exposure for a minimum of two weeks and wear solar protection daily.

SKINCARE: Avoid makeup for approximately 24 hours and keep the treated area clean. Avoid retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, exfoliants and other potentially irritating active ingredients for approximately 5–7 days, or until the skin has returned to normal.

OTHER TREATMENTS: Avoid peels, laser, facials and other intensive skin treatments until the skin has fully recovered and within the timeframe recommended by your treating clinician.

REJURAN BIO-REVITALISATION TREATMENT

WHAT TO EXPECT: Your experience and recovery will vary depending on the area treated, the amount of product used and your individual skin response. Rejuran is administered through a series of small, targeted injections into the skin.

DURING TREATMENT: Mild discomfort, stinging or sensitivity may be experienced during treatment. Immediately afterwards, the skin may appear red and feel tender, warm or sensitive.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER: Small, raised bumps or areas of swelling at the injection sites are expected following treatment. These are temporary and occur as the product settles within the skin. They typically begin to reduce over the following hours to days.

RECOVERY: Redness, swelling and tenderness generally settle progressively over the first few days. Bruising may occur and can take several days to resolve. When treating the delicate under-eye area, temporary puffiness or swelling may be more noticeable and may persist for typically 24-48 hours. The skin may feel slightly dry, sensitive or textured while it settles. Allow the treated area to recover naturally and avoid rubbing, massaging, or applying unnecessary pressure to the injection sites.
